Sneak peek at Early BIRD proposals

You might have already heard about the 3 in 1 call for folioPORT.org on-line portfolio reviews,KAUNAS PHOTO 2015 open call and the KAUNAS PHOTO STAR award. The first one is the third edition of on-line portfolio reviews, and the two latter are opportunities to exhibit at the 12th edition of KAUNAS PHOTO festival.

Since 2004, KAUNAS PHOTO festival has been a stage of emerging photographers and such it remains until now. We are very much looking forward to exhibiting fresh, unseen and underestimated works.
We have released a folioPORT Mag page with a few picks from the Early Bird proposals, showing one work per artist. In the first 10 days after the call for works, folioPORT.org 2015 has received a menu of inspiring portfolios from a variety of geographic locations. The majority of entries was submitted by European photographers – in the area anywhere from Lithuania to Spain. Active have been those from the Americas – from Ohio in the US to Argentina. Asian artists are catching up! The variety of subjects and the artistic quality is very inspiring. Here are some examples, presented by one image of a selected to-be-disclosed entries:

As the Early-Bird entry period is closing on 19 January 23:59 PM GMT, I kindly invite you to take a closer look at the opportunities of the call, share this news with others and, possibly,submit your own work for the eyes of over 50 internationally acclaimed photography curators, publishers and other decision-making actors of photography business.

Horatiu Sava's "Dacia and Chauffeur" relentlessly drives the 3 in 1 call



Horatiu Sava (Germany) produced a work "Dacia and Chauffeur" in his native Romania. The series makes an ultimate collection of shots of the iconic Romanian vehicle, the Dacia in company of their drivers, passengers and in scenic backdrops of Romanian countryside and cities. All generations of people and the enduring Dacia cars are featured in this spectacular documentary work.

This work, selected to be exhibited in KAUNAS PHOTO festival's 2015 edition, was first seen by KAUNAS PHOTO director Mindaugas Kavaliauskas at the portfolio reviews in Eyes-On festivalin Vienna (Austria) in 2012.


Since 2004, KAUNAS PHOTO festival is organised by VšĮ "Šviesos raštas" and Kaunas Branch of the Association of Lithuanian Photographers (Kaunas Photography Gallery).
